Ghost Recon Advanced warfighter (GRAW), SECUROM & Kaspersky Anti-Virus
If you have Kaspersky Anti-Virus installed, games having the SECUROM copy-protection might not start until you uninstall the AV.
You can see that the problem is the one described here if the game does not even display the CD-Rom Cursor from SECUROM. It simply crashes after a short display of the hourglass.
This is what to do:
Uninstall the MS patch KB917422.
Run C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB917422$\spuninst\spuninst.exe
This will uninstall a patch for IE by microsoft that interferes with Kaspersky & Securom.
At the next Autoupdate of Windows, make sure that you choose "Expert" and only update the other patches. Also tell the updater not to bother you about that patch anymore.
