How to input Umlaut and accents with an english keyboard?
When you are using an english keyboard, you can still enter Umlaute (öïäü) and accents (éèê). To get this done, you simply have to set your keyboard type to "US International". This can be done in both Linux and Windows in the control panel dialogues for the keyboard settings or at the installation of the Operating System.
Once you made those changes, you can type a ' and then a o to get a ó and a " and a o to get a ö. The accent grà ve is done with a ` instead of a '. Same goes for a ^ and ~. In order to type a " by itself however, you must ALWAYS type " and a space after that.
