Masters of Origami Exhibition, Hangar 7, Salzburg

Trips & Sights
Master of Origami, an exhibition at the Hangar 7 in fall 2005 has artwork from the most famous international origami artists on display. All of the artwork has been done without scissors or glue, some folded with wet paper, some constructed of hundreds of smaller sheets, show what can be done with very little input but great knowledge.

These faces have an extraordinary expression as you can see. They are stabilized on the back by aluminum foil however. I guess that is necessary, since some of the works on display have been folded decades ago.
The first two are a special technique to make geometrical and architectural shapes. The first is a replica of the hangar where the exhibition took place.
On the third picture you can see a can that is folded with origami-technique. The result is a much more stable can that uses less material and is cheaper to produce.
Observe the image in the mirror of the birds, you can see fishes in the water. This reminds strongly of one one of M.C. Escher's pictures.

This series of art is also reminding of M.C. Escher, this time of his Artwork "Division of the plane". Origami in general is a highly mathematical topic, as well as Escher's work.

This article is the "Tip of the month September 2005" of the "Salzburg Environmental protection Information Services"
