Hotel de la Paix, Siem Reap, Cambodia

Architecture
The Hotel de la Paix in Siem Reap is one of the few in the city that dared not to build a hotel that looks either like a tree house, a Temple or a Colonial Mansion. Its modern shapes and sometimes even industrial look give it a refreshing image. If the design is something you want when travelling to Angkor, is another question. However the overall quality of the layout and the care of the central garden is showing that it definetely is a place to rest your soul.

The central courtyard which is flanked by the restaurant and an exhibition hall hosts a small pond with a magnificient tree in the middle. The restaurant is extended into one of the galleries as a terrace and offers for the adventorous a set of swings on which you can have a reclined dinner. Reportedly those are booked out every day.
A couple of adjacent halls and ponds offer alcoves to relax and forget the busy live in the streets of Siem Reap, bit still fail to transport any image of Cambodia, in case you came looking for that.
