 | The Chatuchak Weekend Market covers a huge area of over 1km² and hosts over 15'000 small shops that sell anything from ceramics, furniture, antiques, clothing, live pets & art to tiny elements of decor that you can use to make your own jewlery. |
 | | |
| Most of the shops are about 10m² or smaller and are filled under the roof with merchandise. Often a whole family seems to reside there, you can find small kids, televisions, pets and people sleeping & eating in the shops. Only few of them sell similar or even identical goods, so the variety is huge, even within the different product categories. Prices are of course also very reasonable for European/American standards. |
 | | |
| The decoration is always neat, the merchants are usually friendly and a couple of percent can always negotiated. Do not expect them to speak english very well or beeing able to give you directions through the maze of shops. |
 | | |
| A quite large amount of items sold are miniature items such as those tiny glass figures (Pic 1), miniature street vendors (Pic 2) or tiny ceramic plants (Pic 3) in great variety. |
 | |
| Of course one also can get some food here, be it from the local insect-roaster or the ice-stand where water is chilled in a metal bucket with the help of salt, flavored with syrup and brought into form in metal tubes. |
