Beautiful Hong Kong

Trips & Sights Here is an image that I composed of two pictures, one from April last year and one from today. Both days were cloud free, relatively low humidity (50% instead of the usual 85%) and about 30 degrees.

The main difference is that in April, the wind is coming from the south (the sea) and in Fall/Winter it is coming from the north (China), namely the Pearl river delta where over 8 percent of the whole country's GDP and 30 percent of foreign investments where placed in the year 2000. In addition, the HK government refuses to force the local power plants (which heat with coal since oil became too expensive) to clean up. The company running those plants are not really poor since they had a monopoly on power for 50 years, so why spend the money to clean up? Things to learn:

1. If you come to Hong Kong, you are always welcome, but better come in Spring/Summer than Fall/Winter.
2. The air in Europe & U.S. is clean only because the dirt is not shipped with the products coming from China.
3. If you buy a products from a country far away, you should go there sometimes and see yourself how they make what you buy.

Btw... this is not a one-day scenario. This smog persists in Hong Kong from September until March! And for those who dont believe that there is actually a blue sky, here is another image with a wider angle that shows it.
