Khmer Dance at the Apsara Theater, Siem Reap, Cambodia

Trips & Sights
Classic Khmer Dance has many links to the cultural dances of Thailand, many of the costumes are similar and also the movements. However, small changes let the expert distinguish them. The typical hand movements symbolise the circle of life by showing the stages of life of a flower. In the performances, mythical stories are told, of the fight of gods against demons and more.

This type of dance was originally only shown to the royal family, and even performed by the royals.
Another type of Folk dance shows the play between a fisherman and a girl, teasing each other and finally falling in love.
