Amankila Resort, Bali, Indonesia
Monday, July 30 2007 @ 11:52 AM | Contributed by: Oliver | Views: 1,138
 | The Amankila Resort is probably one of the most beautiful on the eastcoast of Bali. Since the flat coastlines are all filled with villages and streets, most of the resorts are nested on steep cliffs with stairs leading down to the beach. The Amankila understood it to give the whole resort the look of an ancient temple, buried in the tropical forest, waiting for you to discover it. |

| When you fly into Denpasar, you will see the vulcano of Bali and that the island is quite large. The trip to the hotel will take you 90 minutes or more, the traffice on the small roads of Bali is quite heavy. If you see the resort from the seaside (center image), you will not discover too much since almost everything is hidden in the forest. From the main terrace however, you have a very clear view of the sea. |

| There are three, long pools below each other giving a lot of privacy and space to the hotel guests. When you take the stairs down to the beach you will come to the seaside pool with its own restaurant and a huge lawn with quite tall palmtrees. From there you can walk to the beach. The waves are quite big in the afternoon, and only a short section of the beach is opened for swimming, indicated by flags, due to currents and rocks. |

| The apartments/villas are connected with stairs to the main lobby, and from there it can be quite a walk until you reach your room. The nice environment and details inthe landscaping make it a nice walk however. |
 | | |
| You can see a lot of traditional wood carvings all over the resort. |
 | | |
| The hotel is inviting kids from local dancing schools to perform at the resort. It is worth while watching it, the costumes and skills are quite advanced. |

| As everywhere in Bali, the details of the Environment are worth watching, be they created by the hotel, the local people or nature. |
 | | |
| There is a bay where one can snorkle nearby, and the resort has its own two boats to go there. The trip takes only 20 minutes. The variety of fish is very high, there are quite large ones also to be seen. During the afternoon the waves are high and the visibiliy decreases, so its best to go in the morning. |
