Ta Prohm Temple, Angkor, Cambodia

Architecture
The Ta Prohm Temple is one of the most popular visits in Angkor near the city of Siem Reap in Cambodia, next to the temple of Angkor Wat. It was featured in the movie Tomb Raider and provides one of the most movie-worth sceneries in the area.

It is interesting to see that several entrances have been spared from the roots. It is not clear if the entrances have been used during the time the trees grew, but the general opinion is that the temples have been completely abandoned for many years and only cut free from the forest recently.
Although several parts of the buildings could clearly do without the trees growing on them, many other structures only stand in place because of the roots keeping them together. The massive wooden clamps hold even the heavies rocks in place where otherwise they collapsed without the support.
Some structures seem unharmed by the vegetation. However, for the tourist the leftovers make iot hard to understand how the complete temple once looked like. Since many pathes are collapsed and many roofs gone, it is not easy to see what was once inside or outside of a building.
Some of the smaller details are well preserved. The plants probably offered more protection from the rain and human destruction to the small details than to the larger structures.
